Filming Permit in Nepal

Filming permit services in Nepal

It is necessary to obtain filming permit for the international client before arrival and for the custom clearance of the equipment they are bringing in. The National filming permit document is issued by Ministry of Information. Shoots without permit might lead to confiscation of footages and equipment and legal hassle.

There are different types of permit issued and all of them are associated with certain fees. We will provide you sample documents to help you fill out the application form or if required our team can complete it for you. Due to our long collaboration with ministry, we are always able to get the permit on time and in urgent cases make a special arrangement. We specialize in following permits.

Beside Permits, we will assist in your immigration and visa process. We will provide you complete guide from the time you land at the Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Lumbini International airports, we will receive you at the customs clearance area and facilitate the further process from there.

One of the major factor which most of our international production partners are unaware of is, the ministry appoints a liaison officer from the government who were appointed in ad-hoc basis for individual projects. They are required to be paid their daily charges for travelling, accommodation and daily allowance. They facilitate the whole filming process in coordination with local production partner from Nepal.

If there is drone permit, another liaison is appointed from the Ministry of Defense to ensure the drones are not flown in restricted areas or no-fly zones. If you are filming in conservation zones, another liaison is appointed specifically only for the days you are filming in that particular location. In some cases due to the misguidance from the producer in Nepal, leads to the confiscation of the footages and drones in case of failing to maintain the rules and regulations. Our experienced team of production managers and line producer are quite aware of the dos and do nots of filming in Nepal, which will help to stay away from the unnecessary hassle during your project in Nepal.
